As the title indicates, Mother Teresa is not a celebrity or a Saint. Mother Teresa is a nun who sacrificed her life’s pleasures for the welfare of others. She is a true Catholic Nun, who knew the true fact that helping others is real faith in God and lived according to it. Mother Teresa is a rare example for people leading the ascetic life.

Catholic Christianity is one of the religions that practice the ascetic life on Earth. The Catholic monks, including Saints spent their entire lifetime praying to God. However, Mother Teresa, lead her life in such a way that she added different meanings to an ascetic life.

Unlike other Saints, Mother Teresa spent her whole lifetime, lending a helping hand to the poorest of the poor. This doesn’t mean that Mother Teresa avoided praying to God. She did pray to God and had active participation in religious ceremonies. However, she used to pray to God for only giving strength to serve the people and not for any of her pleasures.

Coming back to the ascetic life, there are 2 common types of ascetic lifestyle that is prevailing today. People who follow the first kind will spend their entire life in prayers and religious ceremonies whereas the second type of lifestyle includes people who like to get some powerful positions in the Catholic religion.

Mother Teresa with her unique ascetic lifestyle of helping the poor people highlighted in the crowd of Saints. Mother Teresa paved a new way that has to be followed by the Catholic Clergy and Pope. Mother Teresa’s new approach to the Saint life is followed by many ‘Missionaries of Charity’ sisters even today. It is to be noted that sister Nirmala still continues the charity works done by Mother Teresa. In her humility, sister Nirmala chose not to assume the title of ‘Mother’.

The sisters of ‘Missionaries of Charity’ are all over the world. They have given up their position, their homes, their parents, their future, dedicating everything to God by helping the poorest of poor. Clearly answering to a political question, Mother Teresa said,

“War is the fruit of politics, and so I don’t involve myself, that’s all. If I get stuck in politics and, I will stop loving.”

Pope and the Catholic Clergy, who are very greedy in ensuring their leadership in Global politics, should change their attitudes and follow the path that Mother Teresa chose. Pope and the Catholic Clergy have to stop assuming that Mother Teresa will do some kind of miracle. They should change their wrong attitude and lead the Catholic religion to glory through the unique path build by Mother Teresa.
